Royal Hospital Chelsea, London — the capital's own leg of the world showjumping series. Three days of five-star sport in a Wren courtyard, a short walk from Sloane Square.

Aachen, Germany — the sport's quadrennial World Championships across six disciplines, on the most famous showground on earth. The one to fly for: jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, vaulting and para-dressage.

Burghley House, Lincolnshire — the autumn five-star eventing classic. Easier tickets than Badminton, every bit as serious.

Woodstock, Oxfordshire — four days of eventing against the backdrop of a palace. Pair with a Cotswolds weekend.

NEC Birmingham — the indoor finale of the showing season, where the year's champions meet under the lights.

Palexpo, Geneva — the indoor Major of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, and the season's glittering finale. The world's best under the lights, days before Christmas.
